What is the Dormitory Experience Program?

Our school is one of the rare institutions nationwide equipped with both boys' and girls' dormitories right on the school campus grounds. The "Dormitory Experience Program" is conducted for 7th-grade students who wish to participate. The duration is 4 months, and students can choose between the first semester or the second semester. We will inquire about your preference regarding participation and the timing during the enrollment procedures upon passing the entrance exam.

Dormitory Experience Program Duration

  • From April until just before the summer vacation
  • From September until just before the winter vacation

Students will choose one of the options above.

Through communal living in a 4-person room, students establish regular living routines and consistent study habits, while developing the mindset to understand individuals from diverse backgrounds. On the personal growth side, the program aims to build a solid foundation of essential life skills, including the cultivation of social awareness, a spirit of independence, empathy for others, communication proficiencies, as well as problem-setting and problem-solving capabilities. On the academic side, school faculty, lecturers, and university student staff provide comprehensive learning support, fostering the formation of regular study habits and the cultivation of autonomous self-study abilities.

After the dormitory experience concludes, some students continue to live there as permanent boarders. While short commute times and robust academic support are major benefits, I believe the true charm of the dormitory lies in being able to stay close together with friends.

Excerpts of Feedback from Parents After the Dormitory Experience

  • My child, who used to ask parents "What should I do?" for everything, has become capable of obtaining information independently, such as looking up train schedules on their own.
  • I think encountering people with different values will definitely prove useful for their future.
  • When my child is close by, I inadvertently end up doing things for them. Since they were away from my sight, it served as a wonderful catalyst for both the parent and child to gain independence from each other.
  • My child has started taking action while keeping an eye on the time.
